A “salary in Australia” search hides three different pay systems. Public hospital doctors run on state awards — NSW and Queensland do not share one intern rate. Federal APS employees sit on classifications under the Australian Public Service. Private-sector medians come from ABS employee surveys republished by Jobs and Skills Australia. This directory is for national occupation pages under `/salaries/`, starting with healthcare.

Healthcare salaries live now

The healthcare hub groups medical practitioners, nursing, allied health and diagnostics. National `/salaries/` articles cover occupations where a single labour-market or multi-state award story makes sense. Doctor salary Australia quotes NSW Health IB2026_007/006 and Queensland Health MOCA7 from 1 July 2025, plus JSA medians for GPs/RMOs and specialists. Psychologist salary Australia uses ANZSCO 2723 employee medians ($2,204 a week, ABS EEH May 2025) and separates job-ad benchmarks from award rates.

Queensland nurse pay is award-specific — it stays on nurse salary QLD and related EB11 guides rather than being folded into a fake national nurse average. Occupational therapy, speech pathology and radiation therapy remain on their existing guides until a dedicated hub migration is worth the URL risk.

When to use /salaries/ vs /federal/

If the employer is the Commonwealth — APS, Services Australia, CSIRO, Defence civilian, federal science or federal engineering — use federal pay. Those pages track classification levels, enterprise agreements and agency tables. `/salaries/` is for occupations defined by industry and labour market, not a single APS schedule.

Super Guarantee is 12% from 1 July 2025 on ordinary time earnings for most employees. Package comparisons go wrong when someone adds 12% to a figure that already includes super. Model take-home on the superannuation calculator and tax on gross before you compare a hospital contract to a private clinic offer.

How figures on these pages are sourced

Every live salary table should name the instrument or survey, the effective date, and whether the number is an award base, a median employee earning or an advertised salary. We do not blend unlike measures into one headline “average”. Coming-soon hub names below are placeholders only — no links until a data file and registry entry exist.

For HELP-affected health graduates, gross salary drives repayment rates under the HECS-HELP repayment guide. Penalty rates and overtime for awards sit in dedicated guides such as nurse penalty rates and the penalty rates calculator.

Federal government pay

APS, agency, science and federal engineering pages are not this directory. They live under federal pay because the employer, super rate and classification system are different.

FAQs

Where do I find doctor salary in Australia?

Public hospital award bases and national employee medians for doctors are on /salaries/healthcare/doctor-salary-australia/. NSW intern pay from 1 July 2025 is $80,638; Queensland Health intern L1 is $94,670. Federal medical roles in the APS use /federal/, not this directory.

Where is psychologist salary in Australia published?

The national employee view is at /salaries/healthcare/psychologist-salary-australia/. Jobs and Skills Australia reports median full-time earnings of $2,204 a week for ANZSCO 2723 (ABS EEH, May 2025). Clinical psychologist medians are often not published at national level — the page explains gaps rather than inventing a figure.

What is the difference between /salaries/ and /guides/ salary pages?

New national occupation hubs use /salaries/{category}/{occupation}-salary-australia/. Older allied-health and state nurse guides keep their existing /guides/ URLs so bookmarks and search rankings are not broken. Both should cite sources; the directory groups hubs by industry.

Is federal government pay in this directory?

No. APS levels, EL, SES, and federal science or engineering classifications live under /federal/. Employer super, classification names and EA dates differ from state hospital awards.

Which salary directory categories are coming soon?

Trades, private-sector engineering, finance, education, transport, social services, legal, management and emergency services are named on this index only. They are not linked until a hub data file ships in the registry.

How should I compare gross salary to take-home pay?

Start from the award base or survey median, then apply income tax, the Medicare levy, HELP if applicable, and super treatment (included in package or on top). AussieSalary calculators and tax guides are linked from occupation pages; we do not publish a single unsourced net salary.
